Moving to a more plant-based and compassionate lifestyle can be so intimidating! That’s why I handpicked the 10 Best Vegan Food Blogs to help you on your way!
When I first started my plant-based journey 12 years ago, food blogging was still kind of a new thing. During my first year of veganism, I even started one to document my my successes, and common failures.
Learning to cook, I tried so many recipes from so many wonderful cooks, and their voice, guidance, and flavors are really what kept me coming back to the kitchen every evening to try again.
All that to say, the vegan blogs I have listed below are a big reason I am writing to you here today. I learned about flavor, how to use tofu, and experimented with baking vegan breads and pastries largely because of these incredible cooks.
They have inspired me, and now it’s my turn to share! I want to help people however I can learn that vegan cooking isn’t intimidating, and with a little patience, and a lot of practice, everyone can turn out amazing vegan food.
I could make a list twice this long and still not fit every blog that’s helped me over the years, so to pare it down these vegan food blogs had to fit certain criteria. This list was chosen because these blogs are :
- Mostly if not entirely vegan. This is important because when you’re learning to cook vegan some substitutions are not as intuitive. (Hello flax egg!)
- Clear, descriptive, instructions. I try to write my recipes like I’m teaching a friend in the kitchen how to make a dish, and the voice these authors use is similar. No assumptions on what the audience understands, just a helpful hand guiding you along.
- Delicious recipes. This is kind of a no-brainer, but all of these cooks have at least one dish that I make on a very regular basis, and I’m always excited to try the new things they come up with! I trust them, and I’m so happy to share these vegan food blogs with you!
My Top 10 Best Vegan Food Blogs
1. Fat-Free Vegan (Susan Voisin)
Susan’s website will always have a very special place in my heart. I was in a really difficult spot, and her recipes and wisdom helped me feel I had control over one thing in my life. What I ate.
With her beautiful photos, delicious recipes, and a charming wit – Susan’s blog became a staple in my kitchen. I come back to a few recipes time and time again!
Try her African Pineapple and Peanut Stew – This dish is one of my family’s absolute favorites. Savory, sweet, and with extra hot sauce – just a little heat- it’s definitely a crowd-pleaser! I usually double this recipe.
2. Rabbit and Wolves (Lauren)
Lauren at Rabbit and Wolves is a freaking genius. Every week she comes up with some delicious fusion comfort food explosion that makes me so excited, I run to my kitchen and try it out. Her vegan food blog is one of the most popular, and in my opinion, one of the best. Her clear instructions with beautiful photos make it inviting and accessable.
Trying to choose just one recipe from Rabbit and Wolves was difficult, but I landed on one of my favorites, Vegan Steak Diane. I have never had a non-vegan version of this dish, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I will say I occasionally wake up in the middle of the night dreaming about this dish.
3. Vegan Richa (Richa Hingle)
Richa’s vegan blog has been one of my favorites for years. I can’t count how many times I’ve stood in the kitchen wondering what in the world I can make with very limited ingredients, and invariably I’ll find myself scrolling through her Instagram.
Classic South Asian dishes, American cuisine, and just all-around great food – Vegan Richa is a tried and true resource to try something new, and returning favorites.
I had a hard time picking one recipe, but this Chickpeas in Tumeric and Peanut Butter Curry won out, mostly because looking at the pictures made me realize I’m definitely making it again this week.
4. Chocolate Covered Katie
Chocolate Covered Katie’s vegan food and desert blog is one of the most popular in the country. Since 2009, Katie has been sharing sweet treats (so much chocolate) and healthy deserts in her fun and upbeat way. Her recipes are simple, easy to follow, and from what I have tried, pretty flawless!
Try her Original Fudge Babies! There was a time in my life that I made these every week. So good, and so simple!
5. Rainbow Plant Life (Nisha)
Rainbow Plant Life is a vegan blog that is as bright and vibrant as the food and recipes displayed. Nisha is a former lawer turned recipe writer and food photographer, and her vision and taste are immaculate.
You could spend hours perusing her vast repository of recipes (and I have) but if I had to pick one dish, it would have to be the Peach Panzanella Salad. Why? Becauese it’s bright, bursting with summer flavor, and who dosen’t love a salad made with bread?
6. Sweet Potato Soul (Jenné Claiborn)
I found Sweet Potato Soul pretty recently after following her on Instagram. Her charm, bright smile, and beautiful recipes has made her vegan food blog one of my new altime favorites!
Jenné focuses on using whole food, and writes with the philosophy that food can heal the body. Her recipes are simple, full of flavor, and a delight to eat!
Try her Balanced Maple Mustard Tempeh Bowl! It ticks all the right boxes – sweet, savory, and absolutely loaded with good for you plant based protein and fiber.
8. Post Punk Kitchen (Isa Chandra Moskowitz)
The OG if there ever was one, Isa Chandra Moskowitz started the PPK waaaay back in the day. I remember finding her video on Youtube making vegan sushi in 2008, and falling head over heels.
My first vegan cookbook was her book, The Veganomicon, the literal bible on vegan cooking as far as I’m concerned.
The PPK is a fantastic repository of thousands of mouthwatering recipes, adventurous seitans, and comfort food favorites.
There’s more recipes than I can count that I love, but I’ll leave you with this mouthwatering vegan take on chicken and waffles, Seitan & Waffels with Pomegranate Syrup.
9. Connoisseurus Veg (Alissa Saenz)
Alissa’s vegan blog is a treasure trove of great recipes, and beautiful photos. Started as a way to share her easy vegan recipes with friends, Connoisserurus Veg has a cult following and hundreds of amazing recipes.
Sweets, appetizers, main dishes and deserts, there’s nothing Alissa dosen’t cover!
Try her Vegan Lasagna Soup – my husband and son’s absolute favorite dinner!
10. Nora Cooks
Rounding up this list is the vegan blog, Nora Cooks. Her site is charming, the recipes are simple and delicious, and I can’t tell you how many times I have made The Best Vegan Chocolate Cake from her site!
I hope you find as much joy and help from these blogs as I have over the years! These recipe creators are such an inspiration to me. Keeping their wit, charm, and drive at the forefront of their blogs to bring delicious vegan food to the masses.
